About our service

Deep Sea and Coastal Pilots Ltd was founded over 60 years ago by the late Captain Hutchinson.

Based at Gravesend in the UK, the company is now the largest deep sea pilotage agency in Europe. Deep Sea and Coastal Pilots Ltd has ISO 9001:2000 Quality Assurance certification and is audited regularly for compliance by Lloyds Register of London.

The company uses the services of some 30 Trinity House licensed Deep Sea Pilots, all with a minimum of five years' deep sea command experience and holding Class 1 Master Mariner’s (Foreign-going) Certificates of Competency. Deep Sea Pilots regularly attend Bridge Team Management and other courses.
